Of all the ways God could have structured his Church, he chose to establish the offices of elder and deacon. What kind of men are called to serve in these roles? What does God call them to do? And how do their ministries help the body grow in love, unity, and maturity?

As we prepare to elect new elders and deacons this November here at New Life, we will take several weeks to consider how Scripture answers these important questions. We’ll look together at the biblical qualifications for church officers and the God-given duties that define their calling.
